Branding and design is important to building any business or place. While I was the President-CEO from 1994-2006 of the Downtown Tempe Community, the business improvement district association that manages and markets Mill Avenue and downtown Tempe, Scott Curtis was our designer and brand manager. In addition to his work on our design projects, he conducted an extensive branding exercise with our 11 member Executive Committee. It was a great process and an even better product! Scott educated us, guided us and listened to us as we developed the new brand.

When it came time for my wife and I to retire from our Tempe positions, we engaged Scott to guide the development of the branding and label design for Keeling Schaefer Vineyards. Over the past 12 seasons, our wine has won many awards, has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, rated 27 times by Wine Spectator and sold in stores and restaurants throughout Arizona.

Working with Scott on our own design projects has been great, but Scott is also the go-to guy for our regional marketing group, the Willcox Wine Country partnership, developing all of our print ads, our new website and social media. My recent election as the President of the Arizona Wine Growers Association coincides with our selection of Scott as the association’s new designer and brand manager for Arizona Wine. I look forward to working with Scott for many years to come.

What I like the most about the Brand Navigator is that you get the best of two worlds: the experience and ability of a top-notch design firm and the personalized touch and time investment of a boutique design house. We have used Scott Curtis’s services since we first opened our business in 2008. He has done multiple projects for us including our logo, stationary, website, coupons, magazine ads, direct mail ads, and T-shirt designs. We are a small business and the cost of customized branding is naturally a concern. However, we feel that the consistent and professional image Scott produces for our business has been an excellent investment.

One of the things we value most about Scott’s work is his outstanding graphic design skill. Over seven years ago I sat down with Scott to discuss a  business dream I had; In fact our first product wasn’t even finished yet but he was still willing to sit down and speak with me. Scott listened to my story and gave me the upmost respect during the entire time. The most amazing part of the conversation is just that…he listened. At the end of the meeting he shook my hand and said that he would have six or more ideas to run by me within a week.  Guess what, a week later I think I had 6-7 amazing brand/logos from him! They were all great but we went with this one you see here; I actually had a very difficult time choosing between three of them.  

There isn’t a week that goes by where I don’t hear the words “hey, your logo is awesome”. I don’t care how big or small your business is you can never get tired of hearing that!
